BGMI Redeem Errors Decoded: What Each Message Means and How to Fix It

Quick Answer: Decoding BGMI Redeem Error Messages

BGMI’s redemption page shows four main errors: “Redemption code has expired” (time’s up or 10 uses gone), “Redemption limit exceeded” (you already used your one code today), “Invalid redemption code” (typo or fake code), and “Code has already been redeemed” (used on another account or device). Each has a different fix — and two of them have no fix at all, so knowing which is which saves you a lot of head-scratching.

Error message What it actually means Can you fix it?
Code has expired Past its end date, OR all 10 redemptions used up ❌ No — the code is dead
Redemption limit exceeded You’ve already redeemed one code in the last 24 hours ⏳ Wait — try again after the daily reset
Invalid redemption code Typo, extra space, wrong case, or the code never existed ✅ Yes — recheck and retype carefully
Already been redeemed This code was already used on your account (or the Character ID you entered) ❌ No — one redemption per account per code
Character ID error / not found Wrong ID, guest account, or region mismatch ✅ Usually — verify your ID and login type

Error 1: “Redemption Code Has Expired”

The most common and most misunderstood. Players read “expired” and assume the date passed. But remember: BGMI codes die two deaths. The page doesn’t tell you which one happened.

  • Time death: Krafton set an end date and it passed. Nothing to do.
  • Usage death: Ten players beat you to it. The code is two hours old and already a fossil.

What to do: Nothing. Seriously — don’t refresh 40 times hoping it revives. Move on to hunting the next code faster. Our status tracker guide explains how to spot codes that are still alive before you waste the attempt.

Error 2: “Redemption Limit Exceeded”

This one confuses everyone the first time. You found a fresh code, you’re sure it’s valid, and the page slaps you with “limit exceeded.” Did someone steal your code? No — you already redeemed one code today.

BGMI’s rule: one redeem code per account per day. It doesn’t matter that it’s a different code from yesterday’s. One per day, that’s the deal.

What to do: Wait for the daily reset (resets at midnight IST in most cases — more in our one-code-per-day explainer). Then redeem. And plan ahead: if two codes drop on the same day, pick the better reward first, because you only get one shot.

Error 3: “Invalid Redemption Code”

Good news: this one is usually your fault, which means it’s fixable. The usual suspects:

  • Case sensitivity. Codes mix uppercase letters and numbers. o (letter O) vs 0 (zero) and I vs 1 vs l are the classic mix-ups.
  • Invisible spaces. Copy-pasting from shady sites often grabs a leading or trailing space. Paste into your notes app first, trim it, then paste into the form.
  • The code was fake to begin with. Random Telegram forwards and “free UC” pages invent codes that never existed. If the code didn’t come from an official Krafton channel or a trusted tracker, “invalid” is the expected outcome.
  • Wrong game. PUBG Mobile (global) codes don’t work on BGMI, and vice versa. They’re different games with different code pools.

What to do: Retype the code manually, character by character, instead of copy-pasting. If it still says invalid, the code was never real.

Error 4: “Already Been Redeemed”

This means the code + your account combination has already been used. Two scenarios:

  1. You genuinely redeemed it before — maybe on another device, or you forgot. Check your in-game mail; the reward might already be sitting there unclaimed.
  2. Someone used your Character ID. If you shared your ID publicly (Discord servers, YouTube comments begging for codes), someone may have redeemed as you. The code binds to the Character ID entered, not to who typed it.

What to do: Check in-game mail first. If the reward isn’t there and you didn’t redeem it, treat it as a lesson: never post your Character ID publicly.

Error 5: BGMI Character ID Problems and Fixes

“Character ID not found” usually means one of three things: you typed the number wrong (it’s long — double-check), you’re on a guest account (guests can’t redeem at all), or there’s a region mismatch (more on that in our region lock guide).

Your Character ID lives under your in-game profile — tap your avatar, and it’s the number displayed below your username. Copy it from there, don’t type it from memory.

The 2-Minute BGMI Redeem Error Self-Diagnosis Flow

Next time a redemption fails, run this checklist in order:

  1. Read the exact message. Don’t paraphrase — the wording matters.
  2. Match it to the table above.
  3. If “invalid”: retype manually, check case, trim spaces, confirm the source.
  4. If “limit exceeded”: check the clock — did you redeem anything in the last 24 hours?
  5. If “expired”: accept it and move on. Chasing dead codes is how afternoons disappear.
  6. If “already redeemed”: check in-game mail before assuming the worst.

Conclusion

Every BGMI redeem error message tells you exactly what went wrong — expired, over-limit, invalid, already used, or a character ID issue. Match the message to the fix above, run the 2-minute self-diagnosis, and most errors resolve without any waiting.

FAQ

The page shows “expired” but the code was posted 10 minutes ago. How?
The 10-use cap. Ten players redeemed it before you. “Expired” covers both time death and usage death — the page doesn’t distinguish.

I got “limit exceeded” but I haven’t redeemed anything today. Why?
Check whether you redeemed late last night — the 24-hour window may not have passed yet. Also confirm you’re logged into the same account in-game and on the redemption page.

Does refreshing the page and retrying ever help?
For “invalid” (after fixing a typo), yes. For “expired” or “already redeemed,” no — retrying changes nothing. For “limit exceeded,” retrying before the reset is just practicing disappointment.

Can I contact support to revive a dead code?
Krafton support won’t resurrect expired or fully-redeemed codes — those limits are by design, not bugs. Support is worth contacting only for genuine technical failures (page errors, captcha loops).

Why do some sites’ codes always show “invalid”?
Because they were invented. Fake code lists are a whole industry — they exist to get you to click ads or, worse, to phish your account. Learn the warning signs in our scam-spotting guide.
