Pick your region, see the best server settings for your area, check what your current ping actually means, and fix high ping step by step — no guesswork.
BGMI does not let you pick a city server like PC games. Your ping depends on how far you are from the Mumbai server hub and your network route. Tap your region:
Enter the ping you see in BGMI (top-left in lobby / in-match) or drag the slider.
Do these in order. Most players fix their ping in the first 4 steps. Tap Done as you finish each one.
Use these for every region in India. Changing region inside BGMI away from Asia will increase ping, not reduce it.
| Setting | Recommended | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Server | Asia | Closest server for India. Europe / North America adds 120–250 ms. |
| Match type | TPP — Asia | Largest player pool, fastest matchmaking, stable lobbies. |
| Graphics | Smooth | Less device heat and frame drops that feel like lag. |
| Frame Rate | Highest your phone supports (60 / 90 FPS) | Smoother response — does not change ping, but reduces input delay. |
| Network in lobby | Check before queueing | If lobby ping is already 100+, fix network first — don't start ranked. |
DNS will not magically drop 100 ms to 20 ms, but a fast DNS can make matchmaking and lobby loading more stable. Change it in Wi-Fi settings (Private DNS on Android: dns.google or one.one.one.one) or in your router.
Cloudflare — 1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1
Google — 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4
On mobile data you cannot change DNS without Private DNS or a DNS-changer app. Use Android Settings → Network → Private DNS → enter one.one.one.one.
Lobby and match can be on different server instances. Peak hours (7–11 PM), a far-away squad leader, or playing with teammates from another region can also pull you into a higher-ping lobby. Queue solo once to check your real match ping.
Almost never in India. A VPN adds an extra hop and usually increases ping. It can also risk an account ban if it modifies game files. The fixes in the checklist above are safer and work better.
A stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection near the router is best. Good 5G (Jio / Airtel) in open areas is a close second at 25–50 ms. Congested 4G and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi through walls are the most common cause of spikes.
That's peak-time congestion — everyone in your building / area is online. Play ranked earlier if you can, switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi, or use mobile data at night if your Wi-Fi is overloaded.
No. BGMI auto-routes you on the Asia server. You control the route quality — network, DNS, background load, and distance to your router — not the city.
Ping ranges on this page are typical values reported by players on good connections in each region — your actual ping will vary by ISP, time of day, and device. If ping stays above 150 ms after all 10 steps, the issue is usually your ISP route — test on a different network to confirm.
